kids say the darndest things…

Leasly: I went on vacation to New Hampster.

Sall: Can you die from drinking your own blood?
Me: No
Sall: Only from eating yourself, right?

I was looking through my notebook from last year and I found some quotes that I jotted down from some of my kids. (: I have to start doing that again.

HAHAHAHAOHOHOHAHAHAH

4/6/12 Daltrey: how can we help our parents?
Daniel: ummmm……um….. By milking the cows!
Daltrey: oh… Ok….what do you want to draw next?
Daniel: a chicken! Can you draw that on TOP of the cow?

what a blessed week with ATC. <3

this spring break of community service with my acapella group flew by so quickly. i can’t put into words how wonderful God has been with us and how he has moved in our relationships.

ANYWAYS today- the last day- i was at the Haley House soup kitchen. Waking up at 4 am is getting easier and easier and the familiar faces in the kitchen make it more and more enjoyable to serve the homeless.

i sat with a man named Manny. Manny and I got to chatting (IN SPANISH WOOHOO!) and after a while, Manny’s eyes got more and more watery. he got quiet for a second and asked me.. “do you go to church?” i was startled by the question but answered with a “yes, i go to church. do you? are you a christian?” and… by the amazing grace of God, he answered with, “no. but i would like to be”.

yep. the terrible spanish i’ve been developing over the past year got to some use.

i think this is the first time God made it this obvious and easy for me to tell somebody about his awesomeness. Manny and i prayed together and encouraged each other in the midst of the clamor of the busy friday morning crowd. i learned that he was just released from prison and currently looking for a job. he shared his struggle with addiction to alcohol and every day stresses. i am so excited to hear about how God will renew and change him in the next year and hope to catch up with Manny next year.

things i liked about london: (in no particular order)

1. listening to english.

2. speaking english.

3. twinkly lights.

4. diversity and acceptance of all types of people.

5. diversity and acceptance of all types of food.

6. mixture of “young” and “old” feel (does that make sense?).

7. friends in london.

8. cloudy-ish ness.

9. tea.

10. graffiti.

11. the tube. “mind the gap”. sometimes the gap between the train and the platform was like a foot wide or foot higher/lower, which makes traveling exciting.

[this list actually stinks but this is what i came up with during finals week from a trip almost 2 weeks ago]
